Why Hire Military Veterans

Candidates who have a military background possess outstanding skill sets and a strong work ethic.

Why hire military veterans? They have great leadership ability, initiative, and self-discipline. They have received an excellent education and have been well trained. They are prime candidates for positions requiring security clearances and are highly diverse with regard to gender and race or ethnicity. Our database of self-registered job candidates consists of enlisted personnel and officers who are transitioning from active duty, veterans with a wide variety of business experience, members of the reserve component, and military spouses. There are currently over 208,000 candidates in our database.

Recruit Character with RecruitMilitary
To enter the military, an individual must have at least a high school education or an equivalent, an indicator of self-discipline. The individual also must pass a screening for negative behavior such as drug or alcohol abuse and criminal activity. Once in the military, the individual must complete a highly demanding initial phase of training. Advanced training develops teamwork and initiative.

Recruit Clearances with RecruitMilitary
Our database is an excellent source of cleared candidates - 16.6% of our candidates have active clearances, and 42.1% had clearances that have expired. Both of these numbers update in real time. An employer that subscribes to search our database can filter out non-cleared candidates before using any other search criterion - instantly narrowing our customer-service niche from military-to-civilian recruiting to military-clearance-to-civilian recruiting. In that niche, we currently have a database of 78,787 self-registered candidates.

Recruit Diversity with RecruitMilitary
Our database reflects the diversity of the active-duty component of the armed forces. During fiscal year 2003, that component was 85% male and 15% female. Our database is currently 85.4% male and 14.6% female. During fiscal year 2002, the active-duty component was 65.0% white, 19.8% African-American, 9.1% Hispanic, and 6.1% other race/ethnicity. Our database is currently 63.0% white, 21.6% African-American, 9.3% Hispanic, and 6.1% other race/ethnicity.

Recruit Skills with RecruitMilitary
Military skill sets of the active-duty component range from "Construction" and "Engineering, Science, and Technical" to "Transportation and Material Handling" and "Vehicle Machinery Mechanic." Only a small percentage of those personnel have military occupations with no direct civilian counterparts - the 18.4% with "Combat Specialty Occupations." But many of the 18.4% have skill sets associated with their college education.
