Military Heroes to be Honored at Arlington

Twenty-five living Medal of Honor recipients will be
honored June 23 at Arlington Park as part of the track's
tribute to American military heroes this weekend.
The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in
action that can be bestowed upon an individual serving
in the Armed Services of the United States.
As Arlington's special guests for the afternoon, these
American heroes will be honored between Saturday's third
and fourth races with a special winner's circle
presentation featuring the United States Marine Corps
Color Guard.
Later that evening, Arlington Park will host "In the
Company of Heroes" - a fund-raising dinner to honor
those recipients. Local news anchor Bob Sirott will
serve as master of ceremonies. Tickets are available for
$1,000/seat and $10,000/table, and proceeds will go to
the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation.
Recognition of all who serve in the United States
military begins Friday, when anyone with a military I.D.
- along with three guests - can receive free admission
to Arlington Park. In addition the military-to-civilian
recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will host a free hiring
event for job seekers who have military backgrounds.
During Friday's twilight racing programs, first post
time is a 3 p.m., but the military career fair will take
place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Also on Saturday, Arlington guests can get an up-close
view of military equipment static displays which will
include two CH-46E Helicopters, two High Mobility
Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles and one Medium Tactical
Vehicle Replacement - 7-ton truck.
On Sunday, in conjunction with the Marine Corps,
Arlington Park will host a "Toys for Tots" Drive with
free admission for adults who donate an unused toy to
the drive.
